Mall Girl

So, my day job is moving in May, due to the merger with another company. This week we got to tour the place we're going to. It's ... in the Mall! The Manhattan Mall, which does not have a great reputation, and for good reason. It has stores like "Top Gun Leather and Clothing" and "Oasis Tee Hat and Cap Inc." Okay, it does have a Vicy's S and Express, but come on!

There aren't many actual malls in Manhattan; well, I suppose the whole of Manhattan is a mall, in a way. There's the Shops at Columbus Circle, which is mostly upscale; there's the South Street Seaport shopping center (touristy!); and the Atlantic Center with the Target in Brooklyn near me. I like malls because they're convenient. And it's easy to comparison shop. But, really, that's about where the affair ends.

I am grateful there is a separate entrance for my workplace. And it's on the sixth floor, so it's above the mall, but one can still look down through the glass and see the mall below! So weird! The space is really well designed, and it's bustling, so it's good. ...But it's also across from Macy's, so my paychecks could be in grave danger.

And ... you know ... I could be a mall girl again ... errr ... it could be research for a part ... or something!!!

Do you remember when your mom dropped us off at the Woodland Mall for a day of shopping and a movie? We were excited about seeing "Child's Play" and we completely forgot that you needed an adult to get in. We stood outside the theater asking adults to buy us tickets. I think that was my idea and you were a little nervous about asking strangers to lie for us. In the end, we did not see "Child's Play" and I cannot remember what movie we did see. That was one of my last times at the mall. - Aub

In addition to Macy's, you'll also have to fend off two H&Ms, Forever 21, Banana, and multiple shoe stores!!! I am never going to see you again, am I??

I have a love/hate relationship with that part of 34th St. Also, that really is the only mall in Manhattan!
